Presenting a simple yet delectable dish which is a twist to usual POHA in Benarasi way ……. It’s none other than Benarasi Chuda Matar.
This twisted dish is combo of flattened rice and green peas in Benarasi style.
Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Benarasi Chuda Matar:
- 2.5 cups flattened rice
- 1.5 cup boiled green peas
- 3 green chilli
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 inch ginger piece
- as required Small bunch curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cloves
- 1/2 lemon
- 1 bunch coriander
- 3 tbsp ghee
- as per taste Salt
Instructions to make Benarasi Chuda Matar
- Assemble all ingredients, crush ginger and keep aside.


- Wash flattened rice very well and keep in colander to drain excess water and flattened rice will be soaked.


- In moderately heated pan, add 1 tbsp oil, add par boiled green peas and sauté for 2-3 minutes by adding little salt, keep side.


- In same pan add 2 tbsp ghee, add mustard seeds + cardamom + cinnamon + cloves and allow to crackle, then add ginger + curry leaves + green chilli and sauté till ginger turns brown. Add soaked flattened rice + salt + sugar + garam masala and mix gently. Add peas + finely chopped coriander + lemon juice and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes.


- Add 1 tbsp ghee, mix it, cover for 1 minute and Chuda Matar is ready.



- Serve with ginger tea and enjoy
