- 1 small onion chopped
- 1 green chili chopped

- as required Some curry leaves
- 1/2 Tsp mustard seeds

- 1 Tsp sambar masala powder
- 1 Tsp lemon juice
- as required Salt
- 1/2 Tsp sugar
- 2 cup warm water
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil
Steps to make Soft Upma
- Heat oil in kadhai. Add curry leaves, mustard seeds and green chillies.


- When mustard seeds start crackle, add hing onion and saute till soft.
- Now add the veggies mentioned including tomatoes, ginger salt, sugar and sambar powder. Mix well. Cook covered till done.
- Add water and bring to boil. Lower the flame, add semolina in batches, mixing continuously to avoid lumps formation.
- Then add the lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve hot. Chutney is optional.
