  1. 4 tbsp oil
  2. 4 tsp green chillies paste
  3. 3 tsp garlic paste
  4. 1/2 cup chopped spring garlic
  5. 3 tsp MDH degi mirch (for flavours)
  6. 3 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder (for colour)
  7. 3 tsp reshampatti chilli powder (for spiciness)
  8. 4 tsp dhanajeera powder
  9. 2 sachets (2 tsp) + 2 sachets Maggi masala or aromat powder
  10. 1 tsp Salt and a little more
  11. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  12. 2tsp+1tsp garam masala powder (use a different one from regular)
  13. 1 tsp sugar
  14. For garlic potatoes
  15. 1 kg boiled and peeled baby pktatoes
  16. 2 tbsp oil
  17. 1/2 tsp salt
  18. 1 sachet Maggi masala
  19. 2 tsp garlic powder or paste
  20. 2 tsp chilli powder
  21. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  22. To serve with
  23. As Required Soaked red chilli paste if you need it be spicier
  24. as required Fried bhungla

Steps to make Street style Bhungla Bataka

  1. For Tali: Heat up oil and fry green chillies paste for a few seconds. Next add the garlic paste and fry till it looks a bit golden. Add spring garlic, fry for a few seconds.
  2. Add about 200 ml water followed by all the powder spices. Combine well and saute on medium low flame while stirring continuously till the oil separates and the spices clump together.
  3. Add around 750 ml water. Bring it to a boil and then add 2 more sachets of Maggi masala 1 tsp sugar and a spoon of garam masala. Bring it to bubble boil. Taste and adjust spices. I had to add more hot chilli. Simmer for 3-5 min. The Tali has to be thick enough to quote bhungla and the potatoes well, but not too thick.
  4. For garlic potatoes: take oil in a non-stick pan. Fry garlic and chilli powder. Add potatoes, the spices and 1/4 cup water.
  5. Combine everything well and cook til the water burns out completely and the potatoes are well quoted with spices. Garnish with chopped coriendar leaves.
  6. Serving: take a few potatoes in a plate, pour the Tali over it and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with fried bhungla. If you need it be spicier, use soaked red chilli paste.
