- 1 onion

- 2 green chilies

- 4-5 tomatoes grated
- 1 cup tamarind water
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp hing
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2 dry red chillies
- 1/2 cup boiled toovar dal
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp dhaniya-jeera powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp sambhar masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander
- as per taste Salt
- as required Water
- For making vada
- 3 cup urad dal
- as per taste Salt
- 3/4 tsp whole cumin
- 7-8 green chillies crushed
- 1/2 tsp hing
- as required Coriander leaves
- As required Water
Instructions to make Rasam vada
- Wash urad dal for 2-3 times and sock it for 5-6 hrs.
- Take all ingredients mention under making paste section in a mixer jar and make a fine paste.
- Mix grated tomatoes and tamarind water. Keep aside for 10 mins. Do not use tomato peel for this mixture.
- For making rasam, in a pan add oil, mustard seeds, hing, when it cracks add dry red chilli, and curry leaves. After a while add previously prepared paste and cook well. Then add tamarind water mixture, give it to boil.
- Then add turmeric, red chilli, sambhar masala, boiled toovar dal, salt mix well. Add water as required cover it and cook it. When you get desire consistency of rasam switch off the flame and add coriander.
- For making vada, drain socked urad dal, and grind it coarsely. Whipp in one direction so that batter will become soft and fluffy. Add salt, coriander, hing and cumin to it. Now heat oil in a pan. Deep fry the vada on medium flame till become golden. Serve it with rasam.
