- 2 cups puffed rice
- 1/2 cup boiled chana (boiled with salt)
- (use any of them like kala chana/ matar/ chole)
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp chana dal
- 1/2 tsp gota urad dal
- as required Curry leaves
- as per your taste Fresh green chillies
- 1 onion chopped finely
- to taste Salt
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp curry powder
- as required Juice of lemon (adjust sourness as needed)
- as required Finely chopped coriander leaves
Instructions to make Murmura upma (puffed rice upma)
- Place a kadhai and heat it with oil.
Splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
Add chana dal, urad dal, fresh green chillies and curry leaves. - Next add chopped onion. Saute till little brownish.
Next add the boiled chana.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and curry powder. Saute in slow heat for some time till masala mix nicely with chana. - Meanwhile in a strainer take puffed rice. Wash it under clean running water. It must not be soaked in water else it will turn very mushy so be careful.
- Now put this soft puffed rice into the kadhai. Put salt. Give a nice gentle mix. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix again. Let it be on slow heat for some time.
Switch the flame off.
Squeeze lemon juice. Mix. - It's ready!!
Serve with chai and enjoy!!
