  1. 1/2 cup Cooking oil
  2. 2 Onion medium sliced
  3. 2 Bay leaves
  4. 1 inch cinnamon stick
  5. 3-4 cloves
  6. 750 g Lamb/mutton mix meat with bones (slightly big pieces)
  7. 1 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  8. 2 tsp Red chilli powder or to taste
  9. 1 & 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  10. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  11. 1 tsp Coriander powder)
  12. 1/2 chopped tin Tomato or 2 medium fresh Tomato chopped
  13. 1 cup Water
  14. 200 g potato peeled and halves (chunky pieces)
  15. 1-2 Green chillies chopped (optional
  16. 2-3 cups boiled Water (if you need more runny gravy so you can add more water as well or need less runny gravy so you can add 1-2 cups of water)
  17. 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  18. as needed Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions to make ALOO GOSHT (MUTTON/LAMB AND POTATO CURRY):

  1. In a pot heat oil and fry onions until translucent and add bay leaves,cloves,cinnamon stick and fry till slightly golden then add lamb / mutton mix meat,ginger & garlic paste, all spices and chopped tomatoes.
  2. Fry for 2-3 minutes add 1 cup water bring to boil then cover to cook on low flame until meat is tender and the water reduces for approximately 30-35 minutes.
  3. Keep mixing and once oil starts to separate, add potatoes and green chillies.
    When oil separates fully add 2-3 cups boiled water and let boil and cover until potatoes are cooked.
    Sprinkle some garam masala powder and fresh coriander.
  4. Served with roti,naan,pitta bread,flatbread,boiled rice or steamed rice.
