- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 2 tbsp Paav Bhaji masala
- 1/2 cup Chopped onion
- 1 cup Tomato puree
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 2 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Cumin powder
- to taste Salt
- 2 pinch Sugar
- 12 pieces Paav Bread
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- as needed Water
- as required To serve: chopped onion and fresh lemon wedges
Steps to make Street style Pav Bhaji
- First, pressure cook all the chopped vegetables except peas.



- Then cool them. Peel boiled potatoes and mash them well along with the boiled vegetables so that they are combined.



- Then heat a deep wok. Add 1 tablespoon butter. Add cumin seeds and pop them. Then add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste and saute' well.



- When it turns brown, add tomato puree and cook till fat separates. Then add all the spice powders, paav bhaji masala,
- Now add the mashed vegetables and mix well. Cook covered for 5 minutes. Then mix salt, water and cook covered for 10 minutes. Keep adding warm water in between to avoid the gravy becoming too thick
- Last, add lemon juice, remaining butter, boiled peas, a pinch of sugar and mix well. Check seasonings and add if needed. Cook further for 5 minutes
- Remove from flame. Then cut the paav bread into half and apply little butter on cut sides. Roast on tawa till aromatic.
Make all the paav Bread ready in similar way. - Serve bhaji into large bowls. Keep paav on sides. Garnish the bhaji with coriander leaves, and lemon wedges. Enjoy hot!
