  1. 150 gms Boiled rice
  2. 100 gms Cubed capsicum
  3. 1 small sized onion
  4. 1 small sized tomato
  5. 50 gms boiled or frozen green peas
  6. 2 tbl spoon oil
  7. 1 tsp Ginger- Garlic paste
  8. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  9. 1 tsp Jeera powder
  10. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  11. 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  12. 1 tbsp Pav bhaji masala
  13. As Per Taste Salt
  14. 4-5 drops Kewda water
  15. 1 tsp Rose water
  16. 1/2 tsp Jeera
  17. 2 Star anise
  18. As Required Green chillies (as per preference)

Steps to make Tawa Pulao

  1. Soak Long grain Basmati rice at least for 1 hour
    Keep water on the boil, add salt, vinegar, and a few drops of oil to the water
    Allow water to boil and then add rice
    Allow rice to cook 90 %
    Strain the rice and allow it to cool.
  2. In a Nonstick Tawa or Chinese wok, add oil, Jeera, and star anise.
  3. Allow Jeera to crackle, make sure it doesn't burn, add onions and saute for a couple of minutes until onions turn little pink and soft
    Onions should not be brown, should be pink and crunchy.
  4. Add Ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw smell of ginger garlic vanishes off.
  5. Add capsicum, and saute for a couple of minutes.
  6. Add tomatoes and saute until the tomato turns soft.
  7. Add green peas and saute for some time.
  8. Time to add your powder spices
    Green chilies
    Kashmiri red chili powder
    Turmeric
    Jeera powder
    Dhaniya powder
    Salt
    Pav bhaji masala.
  9. Add little water about half a cup so the spices mix well and avoid burning of spices.
  10. Add rice to the mixture, Kewda, and rose water.
  11. Mix well all together taking precautions rice doesn't break.
  12. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander.
  13. Accompanied with kachumber or Raita and a slice of lemon.
